#12 Belles Close Gap
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The #12 Saint Mary's golf team made up some ground of their 12-stroke deficit in the hunt for the MIAA's automatic qualifying bid for the NCAA Championships.
Heading into today's action, the Belles were a dozen strokes behind #18 Olivet, who finished the Fall season in second place behind the Belles. The Comets had shot a 321 in the first of three MIAA NCAA qualifying rounds to the Belles' 333. The two teams nearly switched scores as Saint Mary's posted a 322 to Olivet's 331 on Friday evening.

Matuszak had the best par three scoring day of any player in the field on Friday as she finished even par on the four par three holes. O'Connor had eleven pars anda birdie on her way to a 78.
Mary Kate Boyce and Doyle O'Brien tied for sixth place as both added rounds of 83 to give the Belles the 322 team score. Boyce had eight pars on the day while O'Brien had a round-best four birdies for Saint Mary's. Marin Beagley added an 86 (t-11th) as the fifth scoring-eligible golfer for the Belles as she also added eight pars in her round.
