Belles in Seventh at George Fox Invitational

PEORIA, Ariz. - The Saint Mary's golf team currently sits in seventh place after day one of the George Fox Invitational at Westbrook Village Golf Club.

Host and third-ranked George Fox leads the field of eight teams with a 297. Ninth-ranked Texas at Tyler and sixth-ranked Redlands are tied for second with scores of 301. The Belles shot a 334 in their first round of the spring season.

Ali Mahoney led the team with a nine-over 80 (t-20th). The senior had a birdie on the par four sixth hole and had nine pars on the day. Taylor Kehoe posted a round of 81 and is tied for 24th place. She had a birdie on the par four 16th hole and added 11 pars.

Sammie Averill turned in an 86 to finish tied for 36th. She had a birdie on the par four 11th hole while posting seven total pars. Courtney Carlson shot an 87 (39th) to round out the team score while notching six pars in the round.

Katie Zielinski was the fifth scoring-eligible golfer for the Belles and shot an 89 to finish tied for 40th. She had six pars in the round.

Kelsey Conkright, Isabella Speedon, and Courtney Quinlan are all competing as individuals at the tournament. Conkright had a round of 89 to finish tied for 41st with six pars. Speedon had a 90 on the day with three pars while finishing 46th. Quinlan carded a 104 with a par and sits in 48th place.

The second and final round of the tournament begins on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. MST.
