Saint Mary’s College Partners with LECOM

February 25, 2019 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — Saint Mary’s College is proud to partner with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), the largest medical school in the country. Through the partnership, LECOM will grant early acceptance of qualified Saint Mary’s students into their medical, dental, or pharmacy programs.

With campus extensions across the country and a variety of learning pathways, LECOM allows Saint Mary’s students to gain early admission to their desired program and stay on track for success throughout their undergraduate career without having to take the medical college admission test (MCAT).

Calli Versagli, assistant professor of biology and pre-health advisor, said the partnership is a great way for current and future Saint Mary’s women to pursue their dreams in the medical field.

“LECOM is known for their phenomenal preparation of physicians, dentists, and pharmacists.  I am excited for the opportunities this will provide our students.”

Additional benefits of the LECOM partnership to Saint Mary’s students include lower tuition compared with other medical schools, a choice of three sites, a distance learning track for pharmacy, and advisors at both schools that support students through the process.

“This partnership demonstrates the excellent preparation of our students for these doctoral programs,” Interim President Nancy Nekvasil said. “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity for our students.”
