Saint Mary's College's Women's Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI, pronounced "we") is up and running, with seminars for the public, among other offerings. The College received a $245,000 federal grant in October to help support women entrepreneurs and business-minded women in the South Bend area. Among WEI's opportunties are seminars for the public and courses that pair business students with area businesses as consultants.

WEI is operated by the College's Department of Business Administration and Economics (BUEC) and the Center for Women's Intercultural Leadership. It's led by senior project director Susan Vance, professor of business law and accounting, and project director Martha Smith, a local entrepreneur and owner of two successful businesses.
