ELMHURST, Ill. - The Saint Mary's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss on the road to Elmhurst on Wednesday evening.

The Belles staved off a few offensive attacks early on in the game with a strong team defensive effort.  The Bluejays, however, broke through for the first goal of the game in the 39th minute when an initial shot bounced off the crossbar and was controlled, shot, and scored by another Elmhurst attacker.

In the second half, Elmhurst took advantage of a free kick from just outside the box for the second goal of the game in the 59th minute.  The Bluejays added the final goal of their 3-0 win in the 80th minute of play.

The Belles had a pair of late looks at goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.  Mollie Valencia had a pair of shots on goal for Saint Mary's while Kaitlin Teichman and Maddie Meckes also added shots on goal.

Caitlin Walsh had 10 saves in goal for the Belles.

Saint Mary's (0-7) next will host NAIA opponent Illinois Tech on Friday, September 17 for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
