Belles Suffer Loss to Titans

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Saint Mary's soccer team suffered a 4-2 loss to the host Titans in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Sunday.

The Titans got on the scoreboard first with a breakaway goal in the 18th minute for the quick lead. With 2:24 left before halftime, the Belles evened things out as freshman Mollie Valencia capitalized on a free kick for her first career goal.

UW-Oshkosh had an offensive outburst as they scored goals in the 60th, 68th, and 69th minutes to go up 4-1. The Belles were able to cut the lead down to two as Katelyn Tondo-Steele found the back of the net with a shot from the middle of the box in the 80th minute. The rally effort ran out of time as Saint Mary's suffered the 4-2 loss.

Kristen Nelson had seven saves for the Belles on the afternoon.

The Belles (0-3) will return home to host #24 Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m.
