Belles Complete Regular Season with Sweep
KALAMAZOO, MI – Saint Mary’s swept their final MIAA doubleheader of the season at Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon 10-9 and 5-1.
The Belles set a pair of records in the process as they improved to 27-11 overall and 11-5 in conference action. The 27 wins represents the most wins in school history which bests the mark of 25 set by the Belles during the 1984 season. The 11 MIAA wins is two wins more than the previous record of nine during the 2004 season.
In game one, Saint Mary’s scored at least two runs in four separate innings before holding on for the one-run victory. Martha Smid, Audrey Gajor, Ashley Fusaro and Bridget Grall each posted two hits to pace the Belles offensive effort.
During the nightcap, the Belles got another stellar effort on the mound from Kristin Amram who gave up just three hits while striking out 12. Sarah Miesle and Fusaro each hit a homerun to prove the offensive spark in the victory.
