Peterson Honored as MIAA Position Player of the Week

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary’s outfielder Ashley Peterson its Position Player of the Week in softball for games played through April 11.

Peterson, a senior from Lansing, Ill. (Marian Catholic HS), had a sensational week at the plate, going 14-for-20 for a .700 batting average with five home runs, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored in five MIAA games, leading the Belles to a 4-1 record in those contests. In a doubleheader sweep of Albion, Peterson went 7-for-9 with three homers and three doubles, while driving in 11 runs. The next day, she homered twice and drove in the game-winning run with a ninth-inning double as Saint Mary’s edged Alma, 4-3, helping the Belles gain a split of a doubleheader with the Scots.

Peterson, who is being honored as Position Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career, also set school records for career home runs and career hits in the doubleheader sweep against Albion.
