CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The Saint Mary's softball team opened up their 2010 season with a five inning 11-2 win over Elms before falling to Drew by a 3-0 score.

In the 11-2 win over Elms, Lauren Enayati and Ashley Peterson helped get the offense going as the pair each went 2-for-4 in the game.  Enayati had a single and a triple while scoring two runs.  Peterson, meanwhile, hit a single and a double, scored a run, and drove in three runs for the Belles.

Morgan Bedan started off her collegiate career in a big way as she hit a home run in her first ever at-bat.  Hayley Bojorquez and Kate Mitchell each added a double, a run scored, and two RBIs of their own.  Angela Gillis picked up the pitching victory, allowing just three singles which all came in the final inning.

In the second game of the day, Enayati continued her strong day as she once again went 2-for-4 from the dish with a single and a double.  The defense kept the Belles in the game by turning a pair of double plays, but Saint Mary's was unable to get on the scoreboard as they fell by the 3-0 final.  Monica Palicki suffered the loss in the circle, throwing seven complete innings while striking out a pair.

The Belles (1-1) will play Worchester Polytechnic Institute (Mass.) and St. Lawrence (N.Y.) in their second of five consecutive days of two games on their Spring Break trip in Florida.
