Belles Fall to Knights, Bounce Back Against Scots
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Belles dropped a morning decision to Wartburg by a 9-0 score, but rallied in the second game to defeat Wooster 6-1 to push their record to 5-3.
In the first game of the day, Hayley Bojorquez and Sara Montelongo both went 1-for-2 with a single each. Monica Palicki went the distance in the circle for the Belles and was dealt the loss.
The Belles' bats were alive in game two on Wednesday. Leading the way at the plate was Angela Gillis as she went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to help her own cause. She also earned the pitching decision, allowing five hits and striking out three in the win.
Morgan Bedan and Montelongo both added 2-for-4 efforts at the plate for Saint Mary's. Bedan scored two runs and notched an RBI while Montelongo had a double and scored a run. Ashley Peterson, Kristen Nelson, and Bojorquez each added a hit and combined for a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
The Belles (5-3) will wrap up their Spring Break trip on Thursday when they take on Heidelberg and Potsdam in their final day at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.
