Two Wins for Belles on Day Two of Spring Trip
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Saint Mary's softball team picked up two wins and head coach Erin Sullivan surpassed a career milestone as the Belles moved to 3-1 on the season.
The Belles opened up the day with a 9-7 victory over Worchester Polytechnic Institute. Four players recorded multiple hits in the game. Leading the way were Lauren Enayati and Angela Gillis. Enayati was 3-for-5 with three singles while Gillis was 3-for-3 with three singles, two runs scored, an RBI, and a walk.
Ashley Peterson and Hayley Bojorquez each went 2-for-4 from the plate with Peterson driving in a pair and scoring a run with a single and a double. Bojorquez, meanwhile, had a single and a home run with a run scored and two RBIs of her own. Monica Palicki earned the win while going the distance and striking out two.
With the win, head coach Erin Sullivan tallied her 100th career coaching victory in just her 145th game at the helm of the program.
In the second game of the day, the Belles picked up an 8-3 win against St. Lawrence. Peterson and fellow senior Maureen Healy both were perfect at the plate as they both went 4-for-4 in the victory. Peterson picked up three more RBIs and scored a run while Healy scored three runs and drove in one.
Gillis and Bojorquez were both 2-for-4 from the dish in game two. Gillis helped her own cause as she notched two RBIs and scored a run while going the distance and earning the win in the circle. Bojorquez also picked up an RBI for the Belles. Enayati and Kristen Nelson each made strong contributions on offense as they each went 1-for-3 and combined to score three runs.
The Belles (3-1) will take on New Jersey City and Anna Maria tomorrow morning on the third day of their Spring Break trip in Florida.
