Belles Currently in Sixth at Calvin Invitational
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary's swimming team is currently in sixth place among 11 teams at the Calvin Invitational being held this weekend.
The Belles have a total team score of 73 for sixth place. Division II powerhouse Grand Valley State University is in first place while Division I Bowling Green is in second place. Host Calvin, DII Hillsdale, and conference foe Kalamazoo are ahead of Saint Mary's in the standings. The Belles sit above Northern Michigan, Valparaiso, Alma, Olivet, and representatives from Michigan State.
The 400 IM was the big event for the Belles on Friday as sophomore Audrey Dalrymple and freshman Ellie Watson earned their way into the A final in the event. In the final, Dalrymple took fifth place in 4:49.20 and Watson finished eighth in 4:59.89 for the two highest individual finishes by Saint Mary's swimmers on the day.
Dalrymple also finished 12th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.20. Katie Griffin finished 13th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.23 to round out the Belles' finishes in the A and B finals on the day.
The invitational will conclude tomorrow evening on the campus of Calvin College.
