Belles Drop Dual Meet to Lady Reds


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Saint Mary's swimming team fell in a non-conference dual meet on Friday night to Carthage College by a 139.5 to 65.5 score at a meet hosted at Purdue University.

For the second consecutive meet, the Belles were led by the individual performances of Ellie Watson, Audrey Dalrymple, and Katie Griffin.  Watson took first in the 1,000 freestyle as she coasted to victory by more than 16 seconds with a time of 11:26.97.  She also swam the butterfly leg of the 400 medley relay that finished second in 4:12.66.  

Dalrymple was the top finisher in the 100 breaststroke with her time of 1:11.74.  She swam the breaststroke portion the 400 medley relay.  Griffin finished second in both the 200 freestyle (2:02.19) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.14) while swimming the backstroke leg of the 400 medley relay.

Barbara Beidler swam the anchor leg of the 400 medley relay for the Belles while finishing third in the 50 and 100 frestyles.  Griffin, Beidler, Watson, and Dalrymple also swam the 200 freestyle relay that finished with the second-best time of 1:45.73.
