Belles Defeated by Hope


HOLLAND, Mich. - The Saint Mary's swimming team was dealt a 124-116 loss against #18 ranked Hope.

The Belles had a tough time against one of the top teams in NCAA Division III women's swimming.  Katie Griffin had the top individual performance for Saint Mary's on the night.  The freshman turned in the best time in the 100 backstroke as she finished in 1:02.27.  The time in the event is the third-fastest in school history.  She also finished with the second fastest time in the 100 butterfly on the evening with a 1:02.07.

In her first meet back from studying abroad, Megan Price earned the Belles second place points in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.96.  Ellie Watson, meanwhile, also earned second place points for Saint Mary's in the 500 freestyle.  The Saint Mary's 200 medley relay of Caila Poythress, Ellie Watson, Katie Griffin, and Barbara Beidler finished third with a time of 1:59.86.

The Belles will turn around quickly and compete against Olivet tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
