Belles Finish Day One at Calvin's Winter Invitational
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary's swimming team wrapped up a short evening session at the Calvin Winter Invitational on Thursday evening.
The Belles competed in two events on the evening - the 800 free relay and the 1,650 free. The top finish of the night came from sophomore Ellie Watson. Watson finished 10th out of 32 swimmers in the event with a time of 18:26.88, just two tenths of a second behind a swimmer from Grand Valley State University. Just two other Division III swimmers finished ahead of the sophomore distance swimmer on the evening, both from Calvin. Her final lap time of 30.06 was also the fastest last lap of anyone in the race. Liz Palmer also competed in the event, finishing 23rd (19:42.41).
The Saint Mary's A 800 free relay squad of Megan Price, Palmer, Sarah Thompson, and Watson claimed the highest finish in the event for the Belles with 13th in 8:37.25.
The meet will resume at 10 a.m. Friday morning at Calvin's Venema Aquatic Center.
