Belles Finish Fifth at Phoenix Fall Classic


CHICAGO, Ill. - The Saint Mary's swimming and diving team finished in fifth place out of nine teams at the University of Chicago's Phoenix Fall Classic held over the weekend.

The #15 ranked Maroons of the University of Chicago won their tournament with an impressive 1252. Lake Forest was the next closest team with 464 points. The Belles finished with 296 points.

The best finish of the weekend for the Belles came on Sunday with Katie Griffin's performance in the 100 backstroke. After earning a berth in the A final of the event earlier in the day, she took third place in the final with a time of 1:04.08. Teammate Katie Roddy finished seventh in the A final of the event as well with a 1:06.33. Griffin also finished seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:02.01) on the day.

Audrey Dalrymple earned her way into the A final of the 200 breaststroke and 400 IM. She took seventh in the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.46 and eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:58.47.

Next for the Belles will be the Calvin Invitational on December 2-4.
