More Records Fall as Belles Keep Pace at MIAA Championships

JENISON, Mich. - Megan Price and Audrey Dalrymple took turns establishing new school records as the Saint Mary's swimming team held ground at the MIAA Championships. The Belles hold onto fourth place after day two of the three day event with a score of 221.

Megan Price broke a short-lived 200 free school record established yesterday by Ellie Watson with a time of 1:58.02 in the preliminaries of the event on Friday morning. She then broke her own record in the championship final by finishing in 1:57.61 while taking fourth place.

Audrey Dalrymple broke her own record set two years ago at the NCAA Division III Championships in the final of the 400 IM. The junior once again used a strong showing on her breaststroke leg of the event as she swam a 4:39.60. Not only is the time a new school record, but it was also more than good enough for a second place finish.

Both relay teams for Saint Mary's saw cuts in their times while establishing two top five all-time performances in program history. The 200 medley relay of Katie Griffin, Audrey Dalrymple, Ellie Watson, and Megan Price cut almost an entire second off of their preliminary time in the championship final with a 1:53.04 for the second-fastest time in school history. The same group also turned in an 8:03.20 in the 800 free relay for the second-best time in the event ever for Saint Mary's.

Katie Griffin and Ellie Watson earned berths into championship finals on Friday night while Katie Donovan and Theresa Bajorek earned a spots into the consolation finals. Griffin took seventh place in the 100 fly in a time of 1:00.49 and later finished 11th in the 100 back with a 1:02.06. Watson cut a quarter of a second off her career-best time in the 400 IM in the morning to make it into the championship final with Dalrymple. She went on to take sixth place in a time of 4:49.10.

Donovan took 13th in the 200 free with a 2:02.10 for her best time of the year. Bajorek finished 16th in the 100 breaststroke with a
1:12.27 for her best time of the year as well.

The final day of the 2011 MIAA Championships will begin on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
