SMC vs. Olivet

Belles Fall Short of Comets

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's swimming team fell just short of visiting Olivet, dropping a 107-96 dual meet result to the Comets at Rolf's Aquatic Center on Saturday.

In a short, 11 event meet, the Belles were led by the individual efforts of Ellie Watson, Katie Griffin, Megan Price, and Audrey Dalrymple. Watson and Griffin each earned two victories on the afternoon while Price and Dalrymple picked up individual wins for the Belles as well.

Watson coasted to victories in the 1000 and 500 freestyle events. She won the 1000 by more than 27 seconds and took first in the 500 (2:26.79) by nine seconds for the Belles.  Watson took 14 seconds off of her 1000 time from earlier this season with a 11:05.55. Katie Griffin, meanwhile, finished first in both the 100 butterfly (1:01.40) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.99) for Saint Mary's.

Megan Price took a two-second first place finish in the 200 free with a 2:02.13. She was narrowly edged out of a second victory on the afternoon in the 100 free. Her time of 57.50 was just 28-hundredths of a second behind Olivet's Ally Ramer. The Belles' Audrey Dalrymple
made the turn on the breaststroke in the 200 individual medley and never looked back en route to a victory in the event with a time of 2:17.51 - a full second ahead of the second place finisher.

The Belles will host six-time defending MIAA Champion Calvin on Friday, January 21 at 6:00 p.m. for Saint Mary's final home meet of the season.
