Belles Snap Skid With Win Over Pilots

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team snapped a five-match losing skid with a decisive 7-2 victory over cross-town foe Bethel on Thursday afternoon.

The Belles got off to a good start by claiming two of the three doubles flights.  Camille Gebert and Franca Peluso opened up the day with an 8-2 victory at #2 doubles.  Jessica Kosinski and Cara Rectanus followed the two up with an 8-5 decision at #3 doubles to get the Belles ahead early.

Saint Mary's then went on to take five of the six singles matches to claim the 7-2 victory.  Camille Gebert was in control from the get-go en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win at #2 singles.  With the wins at doubles and singles, Gebert won her 100th and 101st matches of her collegiate career.

Monica Way and Jillian Hurley then finished within minutes of each other to wrap up the win for the Belles.  Way took a 6-2, 6-2 win at #6 singles while Hurley pounded out a 6-0, 6-3 victory at #1 singles.  

Franca Peluso and Jessica Kosinski topped off the win for the Belles by earning victories in their flights.  Peluso won 6-2, 6-4 at #4 singles while Kosinski claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win at #5 singles for Saint Mary's.

The Belles (9-8) are slated to take on conference foe Adrian tomorrow afternoon at the Saint Mary's tennis courts beginning at 4:00 p.m.
