“Sisters of Selma: Bearing Witness for Change” is about the role Catholic sisters played in the 1965 march for African American voting rights, which started in Selma, Alabama headed for Montgomery. Sisters from around the country answered Martin Luther King's call to join the protests in Selma. Never before in American history had avowed Catholic women made so public a political statement.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the author of three novels, Purple Hibiscus(2003), Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), and Americanah (2013), of a short story collection, The Thing around Your Neck (2009) She has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction (2007) and a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship (2008). At the age of nineteen, Chimamanda left for the United States.
