Belles Named MIAA Volleyball Players of the Week


ROYAL OAK, Mich.  –  The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary’s outside hitter Lorna Slupczynski its Player of the Week and Saint Mary’s setter Danielle Brink its Specialty Player of the Week for the week ending October 4.

Player of the Week
Slupczynski, a senior from Saint John, Ind. (Andrean HS), slammed home 17 kills and added 14 digs in leading the Belles to a four-set MIAA victory over Kalamazoo. She also added four service aces in the match. Slupczynski is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Specialty Player of the Week

Brink, a sophomore from Muskegon (Fruitport HS), played an outstanding all-around match in Saint Mary’s win over Kalamazoo. She had seven kills in nine attempts for a .778 hitting percentage, distributed 41 assists (10.3 per game) and added 12 digs and four service aces. Brink is being honored as Specialty Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
