Belles Squad Earns AVCA Team Academic Award
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Saint Mary's College volleyball team was one of 88 NCAA Division III schools to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2010-2011 season.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that achieved a high level of excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Saint Mary's was one of five MIAA schools to earn the academic honor from the AVCA this year. The other schools on honored this year were Albion, Calvin, Hope, and Kalamazoo. The Belles volleyball team was also one of three Division III schools in the state of Indiana to garner the accolade (Manchester and Rose-Hulman).
Earlier this week, it was announced that the team had also earned MIAA Team GPA Award honors for their academic achievement last school year.
