Belles Hang Tough Against #9 Knights

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team showed great determination to play right with ninth-ranked Calvin, but the Knights proved to be too much as they took the 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12) decision on Tuesday evening.

While the stat lines might not show it, the Belles were able to keep a high level of play to be competitive against the Knights.  The gritty determination of Saint Mary's showed through most clearly in the second set when the Belles would stay within five points of less of Calvin until late in the set.  In the third set, the score was tied on five occasions while the lead changed hands three times.

Lindsey Stuss and Stephanie Bodien each had five kills in the match for Saint Mary's.  Bodien also had a match-high four aces while Hailee Leitz added 17 assists.  Bodien, Allison Zandarski, and Christi Wyble each contributed a pair of block assists for the Belles on the evening.

Saint Mary's will travel to Kalamazoo for their next match as they take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
