Belles Battle Tough in Tournament Loss to Hope
HOLLAND, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team was ousted in the opening round of the 2010 MIAA Tournament by the #6 team in Division III volleyball in the Hope College Flying Dutch.
The Belles, who just played Hope last Saturday, were defeated 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-12) by the top-seeded Flying Dutch at the DeVos Fieldhouse.
Saint Mary's played right with one of the top teams in the nation, especially in the second set. Hope hit .250 with 14 kills and five errors on 36 attacks while Saint Mary's had a .243 hitting percentage with 13 kills and four errors on 37 swings in the set.
Stephanie Bodien had a team-best eight kills while adding eight digs on the defense. Lindsey Stuss was right behind Bodien with seven kills of her own. Hailee Leitz had 18 assists in the match. Meghann Rose added a team-high 13 digs and Ellen Huelsmann had nine digs for the Belles.
