Amram Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week
NOTRE DAME, IN – Sophomore pitcher Kristin Amram has been named the MIAA softball Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins on the mound in three starts last week. It is the third time in her career she has been given the weekly honor.
Amram allowed only two earned runs in 17 innings of work while striking out 27 and surrendering eights hits.
In the Belles’ 3-2 loss at Tri-State on Tuesday, Amram struck out eight batters and gave up two earned runs.
During Thursday’s 8-0 win over Goshen, the sophomore gave up just one-hit and racked up seven strikeouts in a contest that was called after five-innings. She faced just one batter over the minimum in the contest.
She had her most impressive game of the week in the Belles 9-1 victory over Olivet when she struck 12 and gave up just two hits in another five-inning contest. All but three of the outs were recorded via a strikeout.
Amram improved her record to 7-4 on the season. The sophomore has only given up 11 earned runs in 73 innings of work while moving her strikeout total to 116 on the season. She is holding the opposition to a .119 batting average.
The Belles are currently 18-6 overall, 3-5 in MIAA play. Saint Mary’s hosts three MIAA doubleheaders this week. The Belles are in fifth-place in the league standings with eight games remaining. The top four teams qualify for the season ending conference tournament.
