Fifty-five Belles Earn MIAA Academic Honor Roll Accolades

FREELAND, Mich. - Fifty-five Saint Mary's student-athletes earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll distinctions for the 2017-18 academic year, marking the fourth consecutive year at least 50 Belles have made the list.
 
In order to earn the MIAA Academic Honor Roll distinction, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for the entire academic year while earning a varsity letter in a conference-sponsored sport. A record-breaking 1,293 student-athletes conference-wide were on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 academic year.
 
Among the nearly 1,300 student-athletes on the list were eight Saint Mary's student-athletes who have earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll accolades in each of their four years. Anna McClowry, Hanna Makowski, Clare Theisen, Makenzie Duncan, Mary Green, Kelsey Kopf, Rachel Bonek, and Leah Buck were four-year MIAA Honor Roll honorees and match the Class of 2010 for the highest number of four-year recognitions for a single class.
 
Each of the eight varsity programs at Saint Mary's had at least two honorees for the 2017-18 academic year. Additionally, 56 percent of Saint Mary's student-athletes maintained the 3.5 year-long GPA to earn the conference academic honor for the most recent academic year.
