Halloween Magic Show to Demonstrate Science is a Treat

It’s no trick. Learning about science is a treat! Saint Mary’s College chemistry students, dressed as mad scientists, will host a Halloween Magic Show for South Bend-area children on campus at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 30. The event will be held in Welsh Parlor of Haggar College Center. Click for a campus map. The public is invited to attend and children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Kids will get to do some hands-on experiments and then watch the college students conduct some on stage. The evening will end with kids making ice cream with the help of liquid nitrogen.

The event is sponsored by Saint Mary’s Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SMAACS), the chemistry club. The club raised the money to put on the magic show by hosting a “Pie-Your-Professor” event in September where students paid to throw a pie at some good-humored professors.

Admission to the magic show is free, but donations are encouraged so the Saint Mary’s students can continue to host such events for the public. For more information, call (574) 284-4579.
