Belles Conclude ITA Regional Run

  • Abbi Fleming and Kaity Venters advanced to the second round in doubles before falling 8-6.
  • Fleming and Kelsey Kopf each made it to the second round of the singles consolation bracket.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team saw their stint at the ITA Regional tournament come to a close on Saturday.

Meaghan Flynn and Kelsey Kopf fell 8-6 in their round of 32 doubles match to the pairing of Lauren Beier and Kennedy Mulholland from Case Western to end their tournament run. Monica Davy and Sam Setterblad fell in an 8-5 decision in their first round match in the consolation bracket. Abbi Fleming and Kaity Venters earned an 8-4 win in their first consolation match in doubles play on the day before coming up just short in an 8-6 final in the second round of the bracket.

In singles play, Fleming, Flynn, and Kopf all competed in the consolation bracket after falling in opening-round matches on Friday. Fleming advanced to the second round after her opponent was unable to compete due to illness. The sophomore fell in her next match by an 8-2 score against Katherine McCauley from Kenyon to conclude her tournament appearance. Flynn was stopped in an 8-1 final against 25th-seeded Brigitte Hodge from Washington University in St. Louis to end her weekend. Kopf earned an 8-4 win against Siani Johnson from Kalamazoo before ending on the short end of an 8-1 final against 25th-seeded Mayada Audeh from Oberlin.

The Belles conclude their fall competitions when they travel to Judson for a dual match on Friday, October 7.
