WHEATON, Ill. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team won a 3-2 (27-25, 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12) match against Lakeland before getting swept by Wheaton (Ill.) by 25-20, 25-10, 25-15 scores.
In the win against the Muskies, Kati Schneider had her fifth consecutive double-double with 18 kills and 13 digs. Clare McMillan dished out 45 assists. Melanie Kuczek added 13 kills, and Meredith Mersits led the team with 25 digs. Katie Hecklinski chipped in nine kills and 18 digs, and Samatha Grady tallied 13 digs.
Katie Hecklinski led the Belles in the second match of the day with nine kills against the Thunder. Melanie Kuczek had seven kills and three blocks, and Kati Schneider added six kills while leading the team with nine digs. Clare McMillan notched 23 assists in the match.
The Belles (5-5) return to conference play this week when they host in-state MIAA rival Trine on Tuesday, September 17 for a 7:00 p.m. match.
