Saint Mary’s College is proud to recognize five professors with prestigious faculty awards for demonstrated excellence inside and outside of the classroom and dedication to students and their profession. The Academic Affairs Council, chaired by Saint Mary’s College President Carol Ann Mooney and made up of administrators, faculty, and staff, votes on the most deserving recipients after reading through nominations. The vote results are kept secret until the honors are bestowed. Professors Belanger, Davis, Pierce, Kominkiewicz, and Latham were honored. Hypatia Day, Math & Science Day, Planned for Middle School Girls Middle school girls will be on the Saint Mary’s College campus on Saturday, February 21, for Hypatia Day. The students will have the opportunity to shadow and learn from Saint Mary’s women majoring in subjects like computer science, math, chemistry, engineering, nursing, and biology. Hypatia is pronounced “hi-pay-sha.” The day is named after the first known female mathematician and scientist by that name who was born in 370 A.D. Hypatia Day is unique to Saint Mary’s College and was started in 1991 to encourage young girls to discover the fun of subjects such as math and science. The deadline for registration is February 7. Notre Dame Guarantees Saint Mary’s Students Four Seats in Master of ... Saint Mary’s College is proud to announce a new partnership with the University of Notre Dame that offers Saint Mary’s non-business majors the opportunity to be admitted into the university’s prestigious Master of Science in Management (MSM) program in the Mendoza College of Business. According to an articulation agreement reached between the institutions, Notre Dame will guarantee seats each academic year to four qualified Saint Mary’s students. “Seeing with the Eyes of the Heart” Conference to be Held at Saint... The Center for Spirituality (CFS) at Saint Mary's College announces the conference, “Seeing with the Eyes of the Heart (Eph. 1:18): Cultivating a Sacramental Imagination in an Age of Pornography.” This academic and pastoral conference brings together psychologists, theologians, an iconographer, and others for an interdisciplinary exploration on the effect of pornography on the human imagination and relationships. The academic and pastoral conference is March 26-27. “THRIVE: Women’s Leadership Engagement Day” Set for May 27 The Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI) at Saint Mary’s College is proud to present the “THRIVE: Women’s Leadership Engagement Day” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 in the Student Center on the Saint Mary’s campus. Women Featured in “The Hunting Ground” Documentary to Speak at Sai... The Saint Mary’s College Department of Gender and Women’s Studies is proud to announce that Andrea Pino and Annie Clark, whose personal journeys and justice efforts were prominently featured in the documentary “The Hunting Ground,” will speak at Saint Mary’s next month. Pino and Clark are founders of the organization End Rape On Campus (endrapeoncampus.org). Their lecture, titled “A Culture of Commitment: Everyday Activism, and Supporting All Survivors,” will take place on Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. in Carroll Auditorium of Madeleva Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Saint Mary’s Position in U.S. News Rankings Moves up to 82 from 96 Saint Mary's College remains in the top 100 of the highest ranked colleges in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best National Liberal Arts Colleges list, which was released today. The College has been in the top 100 for seven years running, this year coming in at 82 out of at least 235 liberal arts colleges. Access to the national rankings can be found beginning today online or printed in the new “Best Colleges 2016” guidebook, available online and in stores later this month. Two Choral Events, Hosted By Music Department, in November The Saint Mary’s College Department of Music will host two special women’s choral events in mid-November. The Fall Choral Concert will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in O’Laughlin Auditorium. Ticket information can be found at MoreauCenter.com. The College will also host the 31st annual High School Women’s Choir Festival Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20, also in O’Laughlin. 10th Annual Dance Marathon Planned for Saturday, March 28 On Saturday, March 28, more than 300 students will participate in the 10th annual Saint Mary’s College Dance Marathon (SMCDM). The 12-hour event has raised more than half a million dollars for Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health since students introduced the organization on campus in 2005.
