Commencement 2025 - Deepening Roots, Expanding Branches, and Cultivat...
The chilly winds did not stop the smiles and anticipation of the Class of 2025. At the 178th Commencement, the 359 graduates sat among joyful family and friends, full of celebration, as President Katie Conboy presented their diplomas, proof of their hard work and determination. In the Spotlight: J’Andra Antisdel
J’Andra Antisdel is an assistant professor of nursing science, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mental health and health informatics. A mental health nurse since 2005, she has been teaching since 2019. In early 2025, Antisdel was recognized by the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) for her research on cyber victimization. This significant achievement distinguishes Antisdel as a national leader in the field of mental health nursing. In May, she received the Karen Bush Schneider Faculty Scholarship Award from Saint Mary’s for her commitment to psychiatric mental health and the quality of life of individuals with chronic health conditions.

Nursing Programs Secure Enduring Support
Since Saint Mary’s was founded over 180 years ago by the Congregation of the Holy Cross, Nursing Science has become one of the College’s most sought-after educational programs. A quiet walk through Our Lady of Peace Cemetery illuminates the rich history of the program through the American flags dotting the graves of the sisters who served as nurses during the American Civil War. Just a few steps to the east is the Center for Integrated Healthcare Education (CIHE) in Regina Hall, a state-of-the-art healthcare training facility representing the empowered future of healthcare and behavioral sciences at the College.

$1.1M Grant Awarded to Saint Mary’s College
Through a joint investment from Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Judy and Fred Wilpon Family Foundation, Saint Mary’s has been awarded a $1.1 million, four-year grant to extend its participation in the Kessler Scholars Collaborative, allowing the College to deepen its work to ensure opportunity and success outcomes for first-generation college students.

A Father's Influence, A Lifelong Impact
Joanne Gatti’s Saint Mary's story didn’t begin with her own college search, but much earlier—woven into the fabric of her childhood by her father, William Marshall Gatti, M.D. “My father graduated from Notre Dame in 1960,” the alumna from the Class of ’93 explains. “Family trips to Notre Dame football games often included unplanned detours to Saint Mary's campus. The car would just find its way down the Avenue.” Guided by love and a transformative Saint Mary's experience, Gatti hopes to inspire self-discovery and curiosity in future students.

Service is a Family Affair
Although Cathy Murray Lattimer ’83 retired six years ago, she’s hardly taking it easy. She volunteers 15-20 hours a week, making the world better one volunteer shift at a time with Indianapolis-area non-profits like Random Acts of Flowers, Fishers Youth Initiative, and Indiana Sports Corp. It’s a way of life instilled in her by her parents, Rosemary and the late Michael Murray. She taught her own children the value of service to others while they were growing up in Fishers, Indiana. Lattimer earned her bachelor of business administration in accounting and international business, and was also a varsity swimmer at Saint Mary’s College.

President Katie Conboy announced today that Erin M. Hoffmann Harding, J.D. will join the leadership team at Saint Mary’s College on August 1 as Vice President for Strategy and Legal Affairs and Chief of Staff.
