Belles Defeat Bulldogs

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team completed enough flights to squeeze in a 6-0 win over Adrian before rain ended the match early on Tuesday afternoon.


Kayle Sexton picked up doubles
and singles wins against Adrian.The Belles set the tone early with three quick wins in doubles play. Audrey Kiefer and Jackie Kjolhede were 8-1 winners at number two doubles. Margaret Faller and Shannon Elliott were finished just a few minutes later after picking up an 8-2 win at the number three doubles flight. Mary Catherine Faller and Kayle Sexton gave the Belles the 3-0 advantage with an 8-2 win at number one doubles.

Kayle Sexton finished her singles match first with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the two singles flight. Jackie Kjolhede clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win at number five singles. Mary Catherine Faller put the Belles over the top with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number one singles just before the rain cut the match short.

The Belles (9-5, 4-1 MIAA) will travel to Hope on Saturday, April 20 for a 1:00 p.m. against the Flying Dutch.
