Belles Shut Out Tigers

• The Belles earned their second win in as many days with a 9-0 victory against Wittenberg.
• Saint Mary's dropped just seven total games at doubles.
• The Belles won in straight sets in each of the six singles flights.

NILES, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team won each of the nine flights in straight sets for a 9-0 victory over Wittenberg at Lakeland Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.

The Belles went up 3-0 through the completion of doubles play after dropping just seven total games. Maddie Minaudo and Margaret Faller were 8-2 winners at two doubles. Andrea Fetters and Kaity Venters matched that same margin of victory with an 8-2 decision at three doubles. Monica Davy and Sam Setterblad hardly missed a beat with an 8-3 win at the one doubles flight for the Belles.

Faller then went on to take a 6-0, 6-1 win at three singles, and Minaudo was right behind with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the four singles flight. Elizabeth Preister picked up a solid 6-1, 6-2 decision at five singles for Saint Mary's. Fetters out-lasted her opponent by a 6-1, 6-3 final at one singles. Davy gutted out a well-earned 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) victory at two singles. Abbi Fleming, meanwhile, stormed out to a 6-1 opening set win before battling back from a 5-4 deficit in the second set to take a 7-6 (7-5) win to close out the sweep for the Belles.

Saint Mary's (3-1) has a week to prepare for their next match as they open their spring break trip in Florida on Monday, March 7 with a competition against Ottawa (Kansas) at 9:30 a.m.
