Grammy-nominated violinist Daniel Stein enjoys a varied career as performer, studio musician, pedagogue, and music producer. He works at the University of Notre Dame, where he is in charge of music production and technology for O’Neill Hall of Music and Sacred Music. At Saint Mary's College he teaches M243: Latin American and Latino Popular Music during the Fall semester. Daniel is at home with both classical and popular music styles and techniques. He has toured across the Americas, Europe, and Asia and his credits include performer, producer, and audio engineer in over 30 commercial releases in the US and abroad in addition to numerous TV and radio shows.

Trained as a classical musician, Daniel also performed popular music from a young age in parties and restaurants in his native Brazil. He is a former member of Cuarteto Tanguero, which he founded with Ben Bogart and has appeared on stage with artists such as Julian Peralta, Per Arne Glorvigen, Pablo Aslan, Hector del Curto, and Pablo Ziegler among others. He has collaborated with Klezmer artists such as Michael Alpert and Frank London and had the pleasure of appearing on three different albums with Latin jazz giants Michael Spiro and Wayne Wallace.

Daniel received his formal education from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he earned a MM and a DM. Since moving to South Bend he has served as concertmaster and contractor for multiple musical events and he always looks forward to collaborating again with  Professor Menk's Woman's Choir and the South Bend Chamber Singers.
