Saint Mary’s to Host “Get Inked” Teen Writing Conference

October 14, 2015 (Notre Dame, Ind.)—The Saint Mary’s College Department of Education and Michiana Writers’ Center is proud to sponsor “Get Inked,” a teen writing conference for students in grades 8-12 on Saturday, November 21. The event will last from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and activities will take place in Madeleva Hall, beginning in Carroll Auditorium. The daylong event costs $40 per student. Lunch and an autographed book by Jonathan Ryan or Laura Wolfe are included in the cost. Click here for the registration form. Please register by Friday, October 30.

Interactive workshops and insights from published authors will provide students with tips to keep their writing interesting. Jonathan Ryan, a local author, will be the keynote speaker of the event, and he will also work with small groups of writers. Laura Wolfe will also host two writing sessions. The conference is designed for proficient and novice student writers, and can provide inspiration for future writing assignments.

Students are encouraged to register soon as space is limited. Those who sign up by Friday, October 30 will be given preference. Teachers are welcome to attend, free of charge, 8:00-11:30 a.m. They will be able to hear the keynote speech, participate in a writer’s marathon, and receive information about the National Writing Project, an organization that supports teachers as writers.
