Within the Washington, DC Alumnae Club there is a saying that reminds its members the only different between "ordinary" and "extraordinary" is a little bit of "extra". That saying applies not only to its remarkable community service effort, the Together for Others campaign, but to all alumnae who join together every December to make something really special happen.

It's a Christmas project with a magical twist - the element of complete surprise. Since its inception in 1985, the Together for Others campaign has gifted families, day care centers, elementary schools, homeless shelters, organizations, religious communities, and even a US Naval Medical ship, with fairy-tale quality surprises. Now, the Washington, DC Club is helping the Alumnae Association Board of Directors take the project to alumnae across the nation, inviting all to participate in this remarkable program.

The national Together for Others: A Sisterhood of Service campaign is an idea based on a simple premise - that all across the country during the same period of time, Saint Mary's College alumnae could join hands to conduct a national service effort. Consisting of Alumnae Clubs, friend groups, and solo alumnae, this service effort shows what we can do best - caring, empowering, and working together for others.

This is a collective effort that speaks directly to the roots of our faith and the mission of the College. It's a program that taps the strength, talents, and unselfish generosity of women who are humbled to work Together for Others.
