Julia Adams, M.D. ’05

Resident Physician, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Indiana University

Julia Adams is a member of the Class of 2005 at Saint Mary's College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry. She was co-valedictorian of her graduating class. After graduating from college she attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Adams is currently a second year resident physician pursuing training in the field of pathology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Her primary interests lie in the areas of dermatopathology and cytology. She has presented at several national meetings during her residency training including the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Dermatopathology annual meetings.

Aubrey Szany-Shelton ’05

Lead Chemist in Quality Control for Antech Diagnostics and Regulatory and Quality Consultant for IVDiagnostics

Aubrey Szany Shelton is a member of the Class of 2005 at Saint Mary's College, where she earned a degree in chemistry, with a concentration in biochemistry, and minored in math and biology. She works full time in the veterinary market as a lead chemist in quality control at Antech Diagnostics. She also works as a regulatory and quality consultant for IVDiagnostics, a cancer diagnostics company. Aubrey is currently working on her master’s degree in regulatory and quality compliance at Purdue University. 

Aubrey’s primary interests are in FDA regulations and ISO standards.  She has attended regulatory conferences related to FDA updates to the general market.  Her chemistry and biochemistry backgrounds have helped her in quality control test method development as well as checking for errors in product transfer.  She has assisted in product development boards in order to create new as well as better products.  In addition, she creates an abundance of documentation and also maintains several documenting systems. 

Heather Muse White, Ph. D. ’05

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Indiana University School of Medicine

Heather Muse White is a member of the Class of 2005 at Saint Mary's College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry. She earned her master’s degree in 2007 from the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University in nutritional physiology. Dr. White then completed her Ph.D. at Purdue University focusing on glucose and energy metabolism in dairy cows, specifically through characterizing the promoter region of pyruvate carboxylase and elucidating regulatory mechanisms during nutritional, environmental, and physiological stressors. Dr. White is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Indiana University School of Medicine studying the genetic and molecular regulation of obesity and fatty liver onset. Dr. White has authored or co-authored 12 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 17 research abstracts and has received several awards for research and teaching excellence. Dr. White has accepted a Functional Genomics Assistant Professor position at the University of Connecticut in the Department of Animal Science, to begin in August 2011. 

Megan M. Boyle ’07

4th year graduate student, Northwestern University Chemistry Department

Megan M. Boyle is a member of the Class of 2007 at Saint Mary's College, where she majored in chemistry and mathematics and graduated cum laude. After graduating, she enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Northwestern University. During her first year, she joined a research group working on the design and synthesis of mechanically interlocked molecules and supramolecular complexes. She is currently in her fourth year and has been involved in other campus activities such tutoring and serving on the board for the chemistry honors society. She plans to pursue a job in the chemical industry and anticipates graduating next winter.
