Saint Mary’s College provides Long Term Disability insurance through Lincoln Financial Group. Short Term Disability is available and paid in full by the employee.
Full-time employees are covered immediately by fully paid long term disability insurance (LTD). Coverage provides disability income payments which equal 60% of base salary up to a maximum limit as defined in the summary plan description booklet. Payments commence on the first day of the next month following a period of disability. The amount of the disability income payment is offset by the individual's social security disability payment, worker's compensation payment, and any payment received from another employer financed disability plan.
Active employees who work at least 32 hours per week on a regularly scheduled basis may participate in a short term disability insurance (STD) program. The cost for participation is paid fully by the employee. STD pays a benefit of 60% of earnings, up to a maximum of $1,000 per week. Benefits begin on the 1st day of a disability due to an accident or on the 8th day of a disability due to sickness. The maximum length of benefit payment is 26 weeks.
