First-year Student Takes a Top Prize
Sofia Dolan ‘26 entered Saint Mary’s College with a desire to fully immerse herself in the campus community. In late September, an invitation to participate in the McCloskey New Venture Competition from Stacie Jeffirs, director of the Career Crossing Office, piqued her interest. Her eagerness to be an engaged student on campus led her to submit an idea to the competition hosted by the Idea Center at the University of Notre Dame. Dolan’s answer to the call provided a transformational experience for her as a first-year student, and, on top of that, the EquiCorp Award for the Best Undergraduate Venture

Elena Sarmiento ’23 Chosen as the 2023 Orr Fellow
Saint Mary’s senior Elena Sarmiento has been selected for the prestigious Governor Bob Orr Indiana Entrepreneurial Fellowship. This two-year program gives recent graduates the experience of working with Indianapolis-based companies that are committed to mentorship and professional development.

College Hosts First of Its Kind Career Fair
The Saint Mary’s Career Crossings Office held a virtual career fair in collaboration with nine other women’s colleges and universities across the country—making it the first of its kind. The Women’s College and Universities Diversity Career Expo was held Tuesday, September 27 to help current students land internships, jobs, and post-graduate service opportunities.

Pursuing Her Passions with Two Degrees (South Bend Tribune)
Mary Bevilacqua couldn't imagine giving up her art to pursue science, or sacrificing her science for an art career. "I was so passionate about art and science, I just couldn't see going through life without both," she says. As it turns out, she didn't have to. Bevilacqua will earn a bachelor of arts degree in studio art Saturday from Saint Mary's College. Last spring, Bevilacqua completed her bachelor of science degree in chemistry.
