College Students' Ratings of South Bend Improving (WNDU-TV)
Area college students, including Saint Mary's students, are spending more time in South Bend, with 41% saying they spend 10 hours or more in the city. For many of our students, that's thanks to service hours they perform in schools as tutors and at events like Rebuilding Together where they help low-income residents improve their homes. The scores for South Bend as a city and a positive area to receive an education are also on the upswing.

Choral Collaborations Celebrates Two Anniversaries
A collaborative concert will be held on Sunday, March 23 in Church of Our Lady of Loretto to celebrate two anniversaries: the 25th anniversary of the South Bend Chamber Singers and Nancy Menk’s 30th anniversary as conductor of the Saint Mary’s College Women’s Choir. Menk, who conducts both choirs, is a music professor and chair of the Department of Music at Saint Mary's College.

Summer Science Camps Make Learning Fun (South Bend Tribune)
American teenagers are far from soaring in their math and science studies, and the story is even more discouraging for girls. In December, the results of an international exam for 15-year-olds showed American kids’ scores in math and science were stagnant, while students elsewhere — particularly in Asia — soared. But four local colleges, including Saint Mary's, offer summer camps that engage students in science learning. Registration for Saint Mary's Forensic Science Camp ends soon.

Paul Repeats as MIAA Player of the Week
FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary’s forward Ariana Paul its Player of the Week in women’s basketball for games played through November 30.

Madrigal Dinners, a Christmas Tradition, Celebrates 41st Year
The Saint Mary’s College Department of Music is proud to present its 41st annual Madrigal Dinners, a Renaissance-style holiday banquet and performance celebration. Jarmy Earns MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Honor
FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary’s midfielder Jenn Jarmy its Offensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer for games played through October 18.

Christmas at Loretto to Ring in 2014 Christmas Season
The South Bend Chamber Singers, an ensemble-in-residence at Saint Mary’s College, is proud to present Christmas at Loretto as part of its 26th concert season. The annual event will take place at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on the Saint Mary’s campus on Sunday, December 21, at 7:30 p.m. Purchasing tickets ahead of time is encouraged. This is a popular holiday event.

On Quests to Document Stories of Women and Girls (South Bend Tribune)
Two communication studies/gender and women studies research projects now underway here seek out the voices of area women and girls, and you don’t have to be a Saint Mary’s student to take part. One is an oral history project about female leaders in South Bend's history. The other project is an interview/qualitative data component to the next Status of Girls in Indiana report that faculty and students are currently working on.
