Bishop D'Arcy's Legacy of Faith (South Bend Tribune) The Most Reverend John M. D’Arcy, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Fort-Wayne South Bend, died on Sunday morning. He was 80. D'Arcy led the diocese from 1985 to Jan. 2010, when he retired. Current Bishop Kevin Rhoades spoke fondly of D'Arcy shortly after conferring the Sacrament of Confirmation on two students Sunday night at Saint Mary's College. Discovering Her Feminist Voice (AAUW Newsletter) The American Association of University Women (AAUW) interviewed Catherine "Cat" Cleary '12, about discovering her feminist voice as a college student. She is former member of the AAUW National Student Advisory Council (SAC), an exclusive group of college women who advise AAUW on student issues. Cleary served while she majored in women’s studies at Saint Mary’s. She is now enrolled in the philanthropic studies program at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and hopes to continue her women’s advocacy work at a nonprofit. The kids are attending a six-week summer session at Cleveland Elementary School in Elkhart where Saint Mary’s education students and alumnae are their teachers. The summer enrichment, called the Laboratory School Network, is a partnership between the college and Elkhart schools announced two weeks ago.
