January 1, 2011 Welcome Week Helps Local Economy January 1, 2011 Actress Sigourney Weaver Coming to Saint Mary's The Saint Mary’s College Theatre Program will welcome Academy Award nominated actress Sigourney Weaver to campus on Monday, September 26 as the 2011/2012 academic year’s Margaret Hill Endowed Visiting Artist. Weaver, known for starring roles in films like Aliens, Gorillas in the Mist and Avatar will conduct a master class with Saint Mary’s College theatre students in the morning and hold a public lecture that evening. The 2011 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, released this morning, ranks Saint Mary's College 7th among all U.S. baccalaureate institutions for the number of undergraduate students studying abroad for an academic year (two semesters). While selling gourmet popcorn may sound like an easy task to accomplish, the students of the Sales Management and Professional Selling course at Saint Mary's College learned differently in a national collegiate competition held during fall break. Robert L. Williams, Jr., assistant professor of marketing, said he wanted to gear the coursework for this semester toward real life experiences of professional selling, especially after he learned about this competition. January 1, 2011 Class of 2015 Boasts Strong Grades, Unique Achievements January 1, 2011 Saint Mary’s College Welcomes New Trustees Saint Mary’s welcomes five new members to the Board of Trustees. At its spring meeting, the Board elected four members to three-year terms (2011-2014) and appointed a student to a one-year term (2011-2012). The Board also re-elected five members to three-year terms (2011-2014). Terms began last month. January 1, 2011 Two Choral Events Planned for November Saint Mary’s College will host two special women’s choral events in November. On Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m., the Fall Choral Concert will be held in O’Laughlin Auditorium (ticket information below). The College will host the High School Women’s Choir Festival Thursday-Friday, November 17-18, also in O’Laughlin Auditorium. It is the 27th year that the women’s college has hosted the high school event.
