Belles Third in Women's All-Sport Standings

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Saint Mary's currently sits in third place among the nine Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools in the women's all-sport standings after the completion of the Fall 2013 season.

The women's all-sport standings makes up half of the annual Commissioner's Cup award, which is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 20 sports for men and women.

"I am so proud of our student-athletes and coaches," said director of athletics Julie Schroeder-Biek. "The MIAA is a very strong league, so to be in third place in the Commissioner's Cup at the completion of the fall sports season is very exciting!"

This past fall was one of the best in recent history for Saint Mary's Athletics. Each of the four fall teams finished in the top five in final MIAA standings, led by the golf team's second place finish. Nine student-athletes were named All-MIAA in four different sports. Six were named to their respective sport's All-MIAA First Team while three were All-MIAA second team. It is the most All-MIAA athletes Saint Mary's has had since the fall of 2003. Moreover, seven of fall student-athletes were named MIAA Player of the Week in their respective sport.
