Belles Take 22nd at NCAA Regional

OBERLIN, Ohio -  The Saint Mary's cross country team wrapped up their season by finishing in 22nd place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday.

The Belles finished the day with 522 points. Fellow MIAA member Calvin won the regional while Hope finished third. Saint Mary's finished ahead of Kalamazoo, Trine, and Olivet.

Joanne Almond had a stellar finish for the Belles as the senior cracked into the 22-minute range for the first time in her career on a 6k course. She finished 53rd overall in a time of 22:58.91 to earn 52 points for the Belles.

Julia Kenney and Emma Baker finished with just a few seconds of one another on the day. Kenney ran a 23:40.40 for 87th place (86 points) while Baker finished in 23:43.61 in 89th place (88 points). Angela Nebesny and Sarah Copi rounded out the team score for the Belles. Nebesny ran a 24:31.33 (132nd - 131 points) for a new personal record. Copi finished the 6k in 25:12.56 (166th - 165 points), which was just two seconds off her personal record time she set at the MIAA Championship this season.

Colette Curtis and Elizabeth Majewski also participated for the Belles. Curtis ran a 25:33.34 to finish 186th while Majewski finished in 25:47.45 (194th).
