Belles Finish Third at Wabash Hokum Karem

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Saint Mary's cross country team took third place with a strong team performance on Saturday at the Wabash Hokum Karem.

DePauw took first place with a team score of nine, Division II University of Indianapolis was second with a 16, and the Belles turned in a 29 on the day.

The duo of Joanne Almond and Julia Kenney finished in fourth place overall in the relay-style race with a time of 23:42, just three seconds behind the third place tandem and five seconds back of the second place finishers. Emma Baker and Angela Nebesny finished in 16th place overall in a time of 25:40. Collette Curtis and Sarah Copi finished two spots behind Baker and Nebesny with a time of 26:00 for 18th place.

Baker and Nebesny earned 12th place points while Curtis and Copi earned the Belles 13th place points since only the top three pairs were officially scored for each team.

Samee Chittenden and Elizabeth Majewski finished 22nd overall (26:30) while Liz Krupp and Mandy Wolf took 32nd in a time of 27:57.

Next up for the Belles will be the Calvin Invitational on September 17 in Grand Rapids.
