Belles Claim Fourth at MIAA Jamboree

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Saint Mary's cross country team earned their best finish in a conference event since 2010 with a fourth-place showing at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Adrian College on Saturday.

Seventh-ranked Calvin won the event with a team score of 19 while 19th-ranked Hope was second with a score of 40. The Belles recorded a team score of 117, just 13 points behind third-place Alma.

Jessica Biek continued to lead the pack for Saint Mary's. The senior was just the second athlete other than a Calvin or Hope runner to cross the finish line with a time of 23:45 to finish 12th overall. Brittany Beeler was not far behind as the freshman was 18th overall after running the 6k course in 24:01.

Allie Danhof, Samee Chittenden, and Kathryn Marshall finished 28th, 29th, and 30th, respectively to wrap up the team score. Danhof crossed the finish in 25:06, Chittenden ran a 25:15, and Marshall completed the 6k in 25:18.

Katelyn Dunn was 33rd with a time of 26:03, and Colette Curtis ran a 26:22 to finish 36th.

Kaitlyn Alessi and Emily Getz were less than ten seconds apart as Alessi ran a 26:46 to finish 71st while Getz ran a 26:55 for 73rd. Just two finishers later was Colleen Ogren, who finished in 27:12 for 76th.

Sarah Thompson ran a 27:41 for 85th, and Maggie Pacana finished 87th in a time of 27:56. Holly Higdon rounded out the Belles' efforts on the day with a 28:21 for 92nd.

The Belles compete next weekend at the Pre-National race hosted by Hanover College.
