Belles Claim Third Place at Benedictine Invitational

WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Saint Mary's cross country team took third place at the Benedictine Invitational on Friday afternoon.

The Belles had a team score of 72 as personal record times were plentiful for the squad. Aurora won the team title with a 36 while regionally-ranked North Central was second with a 62.

Brittany Beeler ran a 23:01.5 6k time to finish fourth to lead Saint Mary's. Kaitlyn Alessi posted a personal record time of 24:06.4 to claim 13th place. Colleen Ogren also recorded a personal record time with a 24:12.5 to finish 14th.

Anna McClowry and Mary Philbin were not far behind to help the Belles to the third place finish. McClowry joined in on the party of setting a new personal record by crossing the finish line in 24:20.8 for 19th place. Philbin, meanwhile, had a 30-second improvement upon her best 6k time with a 24:34.3 for 22nd place.

Adele Edmonds and Sarah Allen finished 25th and 28th overall, respectively, with times of 24:37.9 and 24:45.2. For Allen, the time was 14 seconds faster than her best 6k time just two weeks ago.

Caitlin Blum, Emily Harrast, and Katelyn Dunn all finished within 2.1 seconds of each other. Blum ran a 24:51.4 to finish 31st. Harrast posted a PR for a 6k with a 24:53.3 for 32nd place. Dunn crossed the line in 24:53.5 for 33rd place.

Meghan Allen and Kathryn Marshall also completed the race within mere seconds of one another. Allen had a personal record 25:38.7 (46th) while Marshall ran a 25:40.2 (47th). Maggie Pacana was 50th overall with a time of 25:48.2. Colleen Burke rounded out the Saint Mary's performances with a 26:21.4 while finishing 57th out of more than 120 runners.

Next up for the Belles will be the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday, October 17.
