Belles Squad Earns Scholar Team Honor

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Saint Mary's cross country team was one of 207 NCAA Division III programs to earn United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Scholar Team recognition for the 2015 season.

In order to earn the honor, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 or better during the fall semester. The Belles, led by head coach Jackie Bauters, posted a 3.41 cumulative GPA this past fall semester. The Saint Mary's program was one of eight MIAA women's teams to be recognized by the USTFCCCA with the Scholar Team distinction for 2015.

"This team has continued the cross country program's tradition of excellence in the classroom and on the course," said Director of Athletics Julie Schroeder-Biek. "I am very proud of their achievement! These ladies truly epitomize what it means to be student-athletes."
