Belles Place Eighteenth at Pre-National Race

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Saint Mary's cross country team finished 18th out of nearly 40 teams at the Louisville Classic Pre-National Race on Saturday.

Fourteenth-ranked Hope won the team title at the event with a team score of 103 while Bates was second with a 108. Sixteenth-ranked Emory was third with a team score of 128, and 22nd-ranked St. Thomas was fourth with a 138.

Brittany Beeler led the Belles with a 22:39.79 to finish 26th overall while earning 25 points toward the team score. Kaitlyn Alessi ran a 24:24.08 to finish 114th overall (99 points), and Anna McClowry was 137th with a time of 24:43.16 (117 points). Adele Edmonds posted a time of 24:49.36 for 145th (122 points), and Caitlin Blum wrapped up the team score of 490 with a 24:52.35 for 127 points and 151st place overall.

Reilly Pieri turned in a 25:01.44 to finish 159th overall, and Mary Philbin crossed the line in 25:18.99 for 177th. Kathryn Marshall ran a 25:48.17 to place 203rd. Colleen Ogren had a 26:00.72 for 214th, and Maggie Pacana posted a time of 26:06.11 for 216th in a field of more than 330 runners.

The Belles are back to racing on Friday, October 7 when they compete in the Bethel Invitational in South Bend.
