Belles Place Sixteenth at Bethel Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Saint Mary's cross country team finished sixteenth in a loaded field at the 5k Bethel Invitational at Saint Patrick's County Park on Friday evening.

NAIA No. 2 ranked Aquinas won the event with a team score of 45. Tenth-ranked Taylor was second (51), and No. 16 Madonna placed third (76). Saint Mary's was the lone NCAA Division III team in the field and had a team score of 420, just one point behind Robert Morris University. Nine of the top ten finishing teams in the race are either nationally-ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

Adele Edmonds led the Belles as she finished the race in a time of 20:00.1 to finish 59th overall while earning 54 points. Anna McClowry turned in a time of 20:51.2 to place 101st overall and pick up 80 points. Maura Honan crossed the finish line in 21:15.3 for 88 points while placing 115th.

Shanan Hamilton was not far behind with a time of 21:24.7 for 95 points and 125th place. Katie Glenn wrapped up the team score with a time of 22:05.7 for 103 points and 150th place overall.

Fiona Winfrey was the next Belle across the finish with a time of 22:18.0 (154th). KC McQuaid ran a 22:44.0 for 163rd overall. Emily Harrast was 170th in a time of 23:08.4 to round of the Saint Mary's efforts in the event.

The Belles are back on the course on Saturday, October 14 when they race at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble in Ohio.
